| Hello Fellow Earthlings!

"Recycling Away from Home", or RAH, is a
joint project involving Sierra Club, Marquette Neighborhood
Association, Wil-Mar Center and other community groups and
activists.
The goal is to provide recycling and waste reducation tools, volunteers, support and
education for neighborhood festivals and events in and around Madison. We also
work with city and county officials to create recycling-friendly
ordinances and regulations.
RAH is primarily
volunteer driven, and we need YOU!
Help reduce Global Warming by reducing
overall waste and keeping
carry-out recyclables from cluttering landfills, while enjoying one (or
more) of many outdoor, family-oriented summer
music fairs in Madison by joining a RAH Team.
Volunteers of all ages get together at events
to enjoy the fun while educating participants in this important
environmental issue. See our Volunteer Schedule
to get involved!
We also
encourage vendors participating in these events to reduce the waste
they generate (ex: only give out one napkin unless asked for
more) use recyclable
(ex:beer cups) or bio-degradable (ex:food takeaway clamshells)
materials. There is also a growing movement to get city and county
processes in place to mandate recycling and waste management plans for any festival or event in
the area. Vendors can learn more on our
Resources page.
